Chaya rolled over in her bed, an unexplainable fear creeping into her. There were sounds in the room of her apartment, dancing through the darkness. The whispers slowly grew louder, no longer just sounds of the city. She tossed and turned in her bed, suddenly shooting up, staring around they inky black room.
"How can you..." The voice said. Chaya looked around wildly, trying to find the source of the voice. "How can you lie there in the bed of a killer," It said. Chaya's head snapped around, trying to find the source of the words. "You lay there happily, his bloody soaked hands around you. You sick little girl."
"Who's there!" Chaya shouted into the nothingness, but she got no true response. "You like it don't you, knowing that in that death and madness you are the only one that is safe. You like holding the key to the killer." Chaya shook her head, like she was trying to convince someone of her disapproval. "No," She whispered. "You like knowing that he can destroy lives on your whim." "No!" Chaya shouted. It wasn't true...that wasn't it... "You're a sick, twist, little girl." Chaya shook her head and screeched "NO!"
Chaya's eyes snapped open, panting heavily. The sun light was peeping through the currents. Drowsily, she sat up. She looked to the side, seeing Sol still sleeping next to her. She let out a heavy sigh and rubbed her face. The clock read 8:30. "Guess it's time to get ready for graduation..."
~*~ Ten years from the recapture of the Catlian Country~*~
The winter festival, the biggest holiday in the Cat's religion. The entire city was bustling over the festivities. The streets were filled with vendors and decorators, preparing for the great parade, the temple was bustling and warm with the many alter fires, but despite all that, Catlia's head priestess was no where to be seen. She was locked in her room, one of the other Priestesses attending her. The small alter to Ko, the goddess of motherhood and health, was burning with an offering for good health on the Priestess's behalf. Ziva tossed and turned, groaning and wrenching in pains so bad she couldn't speak, and despite her best abilities she was unable to communicate her urge to stop the festival.
Cat was tending do one of the alters near the garden when some little child caught her eye. "Hey!" She called. When the kid saw her he tucked whatever it was he was holding away and ran. "You little theif!" Cat shouted, chasing after him. Cat was the oddest of priestess. Despite Ziva's best teachings she was unable to persuade the girl that bodily harm wasn't the best method of teaching someone something.
Cat instead took the more direct route, running through the crowd, after the child, shouting curses at the top of her lungs, when suddenly the kid was caught by a tall blond woman. She wrenched the amber offerings from his hand and patted him, sending him away. Cat looked at the woman for a moment. She just laughed, grinning at her. "Hey Cat," She said, holding out the offering. Cat stopped for a moment and then squealed. "OH MY GOD CHAYA!" She shouted, tackling the girl to the grounds. "what happened? You got old," She said, tugging on her ear. Chaya just laughed. "Hey that's not nice. You get hurt and have to go to the hospital and you're in trouble," Chaya said, eying Cat. "Wow you're actually a doctor now?" She asked, getting off of her. Chaya stood up and gave her the victory sign. "You know it," She said. "Where are my mom and Kiske?" she asked. Cat frowned a slight bit.
"They're at your house right now, but your mother isn't too well at the moment. She had a break down and ran into the woods. She slipped on some ice and hit her head on a rock, it's nothing fatal...(i think) but..." Cat sort of trailed off. It wasn't easy telling your friend her mother had gone bat shit crazy in your absence. "Anyway just wait till you get there, I think you'll be surprised," She said. Chaya blinked. "What?" She asked. She never was told about her new little sister.
