It was a brisk morning. Dew covered the grass outside the large childrens home that sat snug in the middle of the capital of the country of Glucia. The birds chirped happily, fluttering away from tree to tree. There was a bustling about the house. The few over seers who worked there were waking up the children from the few large open rooms. Children between the ages of two to ten started to drowsily come out of their rooms, stumbling down the halls to the cafeteria to get their breakfasts and get ready for the day.
In the far corner of the room a young girl sat up on the bed. She was thirteen years old, long blond hair and the strangest color of gray eyes. She hugged a ratty rabbit plush to her chest and stretched, getting out of bed. She got dressed and went to the boys room next door, peaking her head in looking down the hall. "Natsuki?" She asked, seeing if her brother had gone down stairs yet or not.

"Guu...I'm here...." Natsuki said, walking over to his sister, rubbing his eyes. Yes, these two were siblings, and strangely enough despite the age difference, looked like twins. Same exact pale blond hair color, same exact strange, gray eyes.
Natsuki was 16 years old, only two years away from having to leave the orphanage, and his sister. Though he was still hopeful they'd get adopted Still being in his sleeping clothes, he let out a big yawn "Why do we have to wake up so early...?" he asked,

Alice walked past him and knelt down in front of his dresser drawers and started to dig through one. "There are people who want to adopt coming today," She said, looking over her shoulder at him. "Where are your good pants?" She asked. Even though she was three years younger she always felt like she was having to take care of him. Without her she was sure he'd forget his own head if it wasn't attached to his neck.
"Here they are," She muttered, pulling them out along with a clean shirt. Alice was different then him. She had no urge to be adopted, and to have to live with a family she didn't know. Especially if it mean she might be separated from her brother. Many of the couples who came to adopt spoke with her, but one way or another she always deterred them away from her.

"Ah, thanks" he said, taking the clothes, changing right there. Natsuki really was somewhat of an airhead. One tracked mind that seemed to have a habit of derailing quite a bit "Oh? Someone's coming today?" he asked, finishing putting on his shirt, he smiled "Try not to glare at them, OK sis?" He asked, smiling pleadingly at her. He understood that she didn't want to be adopted, but at this point the only reason HE wanted to be adopted so badly is so he wouldn't have to leave the orphanage, and her.
Of course there always was the chance of them being adopted seperetly...but of course, if that sort of situation ever arose, they'd always reject the offer.

Alice picked up her rabbit, holding it by it's ear. "I wont promise anything," She said, heading towards the stairs to go to the cafeteria. Plenty of people had come to adopt one or the other since the two had been here, more recently it had been Alice, since no one wanted to adopt a teenage boy. Everyone new they were rowdy and hard to handle. Sweet innocent little girls were much more appealing. Well, that was, until they started to actually speak with Alice.
It wasn't that she was mean or unfriendly, but that she had a habit of being blunter then people liked. If there was a hefty woman talking to her she would be glad to point out that she was pumpkin shaped and shouldn't have been wearing such a tight fitting blouse.
Alice entered the cafeteria, grabbing a tray and getting in line for the food. Already most of the kids were eating their fill, the people who worked int the orphanage constantly reminding them not to spill on their nice clothes. Alice sat down at the far end of a table fumbling with her milk carton.

Natsuki though was definetly an example of 'do not judge a book by its cover'. Although a teenage boy, he was quite docile, and the only thing hard to control is his habit of forgetting things or making sure he doesnt trip over his own two feet.
After a little while Natsuki showed up in the Cafeteria, getting his food and sitting down next to his sister "Hey, Alice, I know you don't want to be adopted but...it wont be long before I have to leave you know" He said, aperantly getting on a serious topic "If we dont get adopted we'll be seperated anyway"

"I'll change your birth records in the office," She muttered, steering away from the topic. She didn't want to talk about it. She hated the possibility of both getting adopted and the possibility of the two of them being separated, and childishly, when she didn't like a topic she avoided it.
She finally popped the top on her milk and poured it into the bowl of serial in front of her and took a big bite, munching on her breakfast. She glanced up at Natsuki again and then back down at her food, adjusting the rabbit in her lap.

Natsuki just smiled "You can alter a piece of paper, but you cant alter appearance...I can't exactly become a foot shorter" He said, feeling somewhat sorry for his little sister. Sure he didn't like it ether...but the topic couldnt be avoided forever. But for now, he decided to drop it.
When she glanced at him though he looked at her "Hmm? Is something wrong Alice? You seem a bit bothered" he asked. She seemed like she had something on her mind, something she wanted to say.

"It'll work for a few years. You're kinda girly to begin with," She muttered, taking another big bite of serial and looking at the table, fidgeting a little. She looked at him again. "I really can change the records..." She muttered, holding up a key to the offices she got from god knows where. Obviously she too had been thinking about the possibility of them having to leave each other, but she was going about it a different way. Alice liked what she knew, and she really didn't want any of it to change.
She slipped the key back to where she had hidden it. "I just have a bad feeling about today," she muttered, though nothing was strange, she always got like that before someone came to adopt.

Natsuki sweat dropped "Hey...thats harsh..." he said, he knew he was somewhat girlish, and the fact that his name was Natsuki didn't help, but still, Alice's bluntness was painful. He though then smiled at her and patted her head "Well, if the worst happens we'll add another year for me to try and get a job aswell as a home." he said
He smiled when she said she had a bad feeling "You always get a bad feeling right before someone comes to adopt...you're just nervious"

She just remained quiet and kept eating her food. Whenever someone came to look the kids they rounded them all into this big nice play room. It was full of toys, arts and crafts tables, books and sofa's. After breakfast they were all directed into the room. The younger kids loved it. It was like a big party for them. Alice didn't like it. She swiped some colorful paper of one of the tables and sat down on one of the couches.
She sat the rabbit next to her again and attempted to start to fold an origami bird, though unfortunately it wasn't something she was too good at it, and her birds always came out as crumpled balls of paper.

"Thats the wrong way." Natsuki said, sitting down next to her, having a simple white piece of paper "Look" He said, slowly showing her the proper way to do it. At first he was just as bad as her, though obviously he got much better, and now could do it easily. The only reason he even started origami was because he found out his sister liked it. Funny how now he was great at it, and she still somewhat blew.
He used to love this room when he was smaller. Though now, being how old he was, and the fact there was no one else closer to his age than his sister, he had no one to play with. Plus, a 16 yer old playing with a toy truck as emberassing.

Alice had never taken a liking to the room. Though she didn't dislike any of the younger children and sometimes liked helping out with them (since she seemed to had a knack of feeling like she had to take care of people) but she never played with anyone when she was little. She tried, she just didn't know how to interact with them, and she ended up beingn by herself with that plush rabbit.
It wasn't long after they all got into the room that a couple entered the room. They started talking to the younger children first. Alice hardly glanced at them, she focused on the paper in her lap, trying to mimic what Natsuki had done, even though it didn't seem like much was getting done.

"Haha...Jeeze...you're doing this on purpose, arent you?" he asked, looking at the many crumbeled papers around. Natsuki didn't really pay much attention to the couple that entered. Sure he wanted to get adopted with his sister, but trying too hard would most likely have an adverse effect.

"You don't even care how are you good at it?" She grumbled, dropping anther crumpled ball, though as she did the couple walked over to them. Alice just flat out ignored them, though she slowly pulled the rabbit into her lap. "Well hello," The woman said, smiling as nicely as anyone could. Alice didn't respond. The two seemed focused on her though, and less so on her brother. "Aren't you a little old for dolls?" She asked, pointing to the rabbit. Alice looked up at her.
"Aren't you a little old to have such a low cut shirt?" She responded. There was that lovely bluntness of hers again. The woman was a little taken a back, but the man pattered her shoulder, calming her down. "What's your name?" She man asked.
