Again a normal day at a bar, people drinking and falling off their seats, laughing yelling and vomiting. A normal day at the bar in this little village. Though there was one shady character sitting at the bar, keeping his hat on, it covering the top half of his face. He looked like an assassin with a cheap outfit. Though he wasnt the oddity of the day. The Oddity was the one that came in through the doors. Strage hair, his eyes having an odd shine to them, a piece of what looked like silver stuck on his face, his hair multi colored. A trench coat and an odd looking black metal armor that seemed to be missing its lower half. Odd spooky accesories hanging from his right hand. But any of that paled in comparison to the two black wings behind his back. Even in this dark bar they could be seen as if he was walking around in broad daylight. Something like that you just cannot mask. He walked over to the shady man in the corner of the bad, and sat down next to him. They seemed to be talking, though they werent moving their heads much.

Josephine de Larouge was rushing home from the forest. The sun was just setting over the horizan on the warm, summer evening. She ran down the streets of the little town. The a group of girls standing on the side of the road laughed at her as she ran by. "Hey, freak show!" One of them shouted. Jo was getting tired of the hair comments. She had been getting them for ten years. She turned her head to snap back at them, but went tumbling into a fruit cart on the side of the road. She tumbled into a mash pit of apples and pears, leaving a nice juice underneath her. "Owww~" She moaned, sitting up, rubbing her side and then grinning up at the unhappy merchant. "Eh...heh..." "Way to go freak show!" The girls laughed, but Jo had other things to worry about. She grabbed her dropped bow and went running for the tavern on the end of the road.
Set off right in front of the river docks was a nice little bar, already aglow with the evening rush. The windows light up as one by one a plump woman in the window light the gas lanterns. The woman made eye contact with Jo and tapped her wrist, indicating she was late. "I know I know," Jo said, despite the fact she wasn't going to be heard. She burst into the bar. "Sorry Jane," She said to the plump woman. Jane raised an eyebrow at her. "Why do you smell like Fruit? Aye, never mind that, go change out a those sticky clothes and get behind the bar. Jo gave her an apologetic grin and ran up the stiars in the corner, going past all the guest rooms and to her room in the corner.
Jo ran into her room. Books covered the room, filling the shelves that lined the walls and spilling onto the floor in piles. Jo put her bow and horn of arrows on the only clean corner in the room and rummaged through the mess on the floor to find a pair of clean clothing. She quickly stripped, putting on the new clean clothes, tossing the sticky ones into a basket in the corner. She snatched the brush off of the dresser next to the little bed and ran it through her hair, brushing out the twigs and leaves that had gotten stuck in it when she was in the forest.
Feeling that jane would be pleased she left her black hole of a room and went down stairs and up to the elderly man who was behind the bar. "Sorry I'm late John," She said, grabbing an apron and the tankered from him. John patted her head. "You know when you're out that long Jane starts to nag on me. She's in one of her moods now. Beware," he warned with a laugh, before going out to talk to his wife. Jo just gave one of her half crooked smiles at turned to the man who had just sat down.
...wow...major creeper She thought. "Can I get you something to drink?" She asked, trying not to look directly at him. What the hell was up with those wings anyways? Were they real or was it just a stunt. Was he part of a thearter group or something?

"Water, with Ice." he said, giving the girl a brief glance. Before going back to his conversation with the shady man. "So I ask again. Did you kill her?" she shady man asked, they were speaking too silently for anyone else to hear. "I'd ask for more before I kill her, she's a noble's daughter, she's got protection." The one with wings said "I already gave you everything I have! What more do you want?!" he snapped "What else? I want more than you have." the one with wings said calmly "You f-" "I suggest keeping you're voice down, angered yelling here will start a fight, and you wouldnt survive it," He said. The man just clenched his fists and quickly stood up "Forget it, I'll find someone else to do the job." he snapped silently, and turned, leaving. "Best of luck." the man with the wings said, as the other stormed out. Once the man left he sighed "What a fool..." He muttered, putting a pouch that was nearly bursting with silver coins, onto the bar. He just sat there and waited for his water.

"Got it," Jo responded to the order. She checked the jar that held the water. "Great, empty..." she muttered. She sighed, putting the cup of ice of the counter and heading out to the back with a bucket to get water from the pump near the river. Placing the bucket under the pump Jo started pumping, waiting for the water to come out...nothing...
"Hmp!" She huffed, putting her hands on her hips. She rolled up her sleeves and started pumping more furiously...still nothing... She looked around. "...Jane is going to kill me if I mess this it," She muttered, and closed her eyes to concentrate. Slowly, the young girl ran her hand over the the ground in front of her and then with a sudden jerk, threw her hands into the sky, trying to bring the pipe up into the bucket. Well, she got the water from the pump...but also a good bit from the river as well.
A pillar of water shot into the air from, rocking boats that were tied to the dock, but the magnificent pillar stood for only a few moments, before it went crashing onto the poor girl bellow, soaking her to the bone. Jo was not at all surprised. She stood there with a dull face as the waterfall crashed down on her. She stared at the ground, spitting out the water. Jo had never gotten the hang of her water abilities, so things like this always happened. She was far from surprised.
She sighed, now drenched, and grabbed the bucket of water, trudging back to the bar. She sloshed back in, after having rung out her clothes so she was merely damp. She sighed, giving the man his water and going to another costumer, trying not to look at Jane on the other side of the bar, who was giving her a total 'I told you so,' look.
Jane tapped her Husband on the shoulder as another man walked out. "Keep an eye on Jo, I'm gettin one of my feelins today," She said, taking a rag and whipping off one of the tables. John nodded. "Aye your highness," he said mockingly, which got the old man a slap upside the head.

"Hm?" The man raised his head when the water pillar appeared, having felt on the sound or the impact of the water, but rather the spike in magical energy "..." He turned his head, looking at Jo as she came back soaking wet "...Never would have expected that." He muttered, but then just took his water and sipped it. After about five minutes, he spoke up again when Jo passed.
"You concentrated too hard. And you're movements were too quick." He said, though his eyes were fixed on his glass. He didn't say anything else after that, he jus sipped on his water again. Though oddly enough, the ice cubes in his water werent melting. The outside of the glass was actualy getting soggy, aperantly the water inside was cold enough to cause condensation.

"What was that?" Jo asked. She had been tending to another costumer when he spoke to her, and of course, being a teenager, her hearing shut off when she was doing something as mind numbing as work. She had a habit of drifting off completely, and more then one beer had been spilt due to her lack of conencetration. Setting the beer down for the man she had been helping earlier she looked over to him. "Repeat that?" She asked. Normally you'd have to be curious of a man dressed in such an odd fashion, with wings none the less, talking to you, but it was a bar, part of a bar tenders job was to chat with the costumers.
Well Jane and John didn't believe that. "Josephine! Stop your chatting and get back to work!" She called across the bar to the young woman, but of course the shouting as hardly recognized by the others thanks to the chatting and such of the other patrons. "I dun like the looks of the winged fella," Jane muttered. "I'm surprised he isn't drawing more attention. The sun just set they can't be that drunk," he muttered. "just keep your eyes on him," Jane said, collecting a few discarded mugs.
Jo blinked with jane shouted at her. "Wha-Ah!" When Jo had turned to ask what she was talking about she manged to slip in the little puddle she had mad. Laughter erupted from the people sitting at the bar. The blue haired cluts was the center of many jokes of the town, and such incidents didn't help her. "Ow..." She moaned, standing up and grabbing a towel to wipe up her puddle.

The man just sighed and continued to sip the water. Though the water she was mopping up suddenly moving away from the towel, off the ground, and down the sink. Moving by itself. "I said you try too hard and move too fast." He said, this time being a bit more blunt about it, and a tad bit louder.
Now of course this man was oddly dressed, and of course he seemed like trouble, thats what he basicaly was. He wasnt a brutal murderer or someone who loves to fight. Though then again, if he said that, no one would balieve him. He felt the two's odd looks at him, but paid no mind, he was used to a lot more people staring at him than that.

Jo watched with an absolute curiosity. "That so wasn't me..." She muttered, having never been able to pull something like that off so smoothly. Every time she attempted to do anything with water she created an absolute mess, as she had done minutes before, a few sunken boats were proof to that. "Too fast and too hard?" She asked, snickering to her own statement. oh god that's funny She thought. Of course being the adolescent mind every time she heard something that was mildly considered preverse she had to snicker. It was one of those unwritten rules.
"Did you do that?" She asked, nodding to the sink as she dumped a towel in the bin of cleaning rags. "How?" She asked. Jo had been fighting for some time to figure out the demon side of her. If she had to be stuck with this ridiculous color hair then the least she could do was a little bit of magic to go with it. At least give her a reason to be a freak.
"Alright," Jane muttered, handing her husband the rags and mugs. She was getting far too uncomfortable with that man talking to Jo. "Alright Josephine, dishes," She said, walking over behind the bar and relieving her of the mug she was holding. "Ehh...Dishes? Oh come on," She said. "You were late, dishes, now," She said, pushing her towards the kitchen. "Fine..." She muttered under her breath. Couldn't believe she was that close to possibly figuring something out.

The man looked at Jane for a second and sighed, quickly drinking down the rest of his water, the ice cubes suddenly melting. He put the glass down and stood up, taking the bag of silver he had 'relieved' from the shady person from before. taking out a couple coins and throwing them on the bar, far more than a glass of water was worth, but he didnt have coppers, so he setteled with silvers.
He just turned around and left the bar. Thoug if Jo had at least one little drop of ability to see something unusual, she'd see that the left over beer dropblets in the mug had frozen solid, yellowy-white ice forming letters that said 'by the lake, tonight'

Jo collecting the mugs and taking them back into the kitchen with her. She began washing the dishes, dunking them in the soapy bucket of water and washing out the bear before putting them on a rack to dry. She grumbled for to herself. She knew that Jane just wanted the best for her, and was trying to keep her safe, but the woman was paranoid the every man who walked into the bar was out to get Jo. Though a few had, that had stopped when she was 10. The other city had obviously grown bored with her exsistance, and had just forgotten her, so there was nothing to worry about now.
She grabbed then mug and almost threw it in with the rest, when she realized that it had ice writing on it. She stared at it for a moment. Ok, so it was crazy suspiscious. A winged man dressed in some odd black clothing says "by the lack" You normally don't follow after, but Jo was begging for something to do. The norm was just far to boring. She craved excitment. That urge overpowered her fear. She finished the dishes as quick as she could and threw her apron to the side. "Jane I'm not feeling well, I'm going to bed," She said, popping her head out of the kitchen. "Alright hun, get some sleep,"She said. Jo nodded and took off up the stairs.
Jo though was just as paranoid as Jane and John though, so she sat on her bed for a moment, thinking over her desiscion. "But I'm so closed to learning...even if she is a creeper," She muttered. The want of adventure overpowered her paranoia, so she blew out her candle and grabbed her bow and arrow, just in case, and climbed out the window.
She plopped onto the ground and headed down the river banks to where the two rivers met and formed a lake of sorts, she looked around, her posture ridged and aware, just in case.

"I'm right here." The man said, standing on the edge of the riverbank. He was looking right at her, though he raised an eyebrow "You plan to do something with that?" He asked, walking over to her, though stopping when the distance between then was ten feet. "If you have any questions you want to ask, go ahead." he said. It was a fool moon behind him, and the fact that the metal on his face reflected the light so much, and his bright yellow eyes we're also quite sticking out in the dark, it didnt help him look any creepier.
Usualy he wouldnt bother, seeing a bit of magical talent isint something new to him, he wouldnt bother to try and teach someone, even if they were very eager to learn. But he saw something in this girl that he didnt see in anyone else. She had the potential to move the entire sea, never mind rivers and ponds. He wasnt going to let that kind of talent waste away behind a bar, serving beer to perverse drunken old men.

This was really the first time she had gotten a good look at him, and Jo had started to wish she hadn't. IS that metal stuck on his face? And what's with the eyes? She thought, growing even more ridged when he had approached her. She was a little freaked out by his appearance, so it was natural that she took a step away from him. She stared at him until he spoke.
"Questions?" She repeated. Questions? Oh of course she had questions. Thousands of them. What was that metal stuff on his face? What was with the wings? Just why was she out here? But she started with the most logical. "What do you want?" She asked. She didn't loosen her grip on her bow out of instinct. Jane was going to kill her if she knew she had gotten out.

"Remember that pillar of water you made by accident?" he asked "That is no 'accident', begginer mages make accidents like blowing up a bottle of water, spilling the water, or accidentaly losing control and making it go everyone, but its never more than a bucket full." he said
He turned around and walked over to the river, he looked over his shoulder and motioned for her to come over, before turning to look at the water again. He moved his hand out, so she could see what he's doing, and thanks to the water reflecting the moonlight, his black hand was basicaly an eyesore against the white water.
He made little, simple movements the water rippeled a little here and there, then then he held his hand still, the palm facing upwards, as if he was holding a basket ball. "With the amount of untapped potential you have, you could do this-" He said, and slowly moved his hand up. The water of the river started to reaise, along with the boats and fish in it, the entire river raising up, only leaving mud behind. THe water kept its shape though, it didnt break, it was as if it hadnt moved from its original place "and much more." He said, gently lowering the river into its place again. He turned around and looked at her "If you were able to control you're power, you'd be able to move entire ocean's, nevermind rivers and ponds."

"How'd you know about that?" She asked when he mentioned the pillar. Sure it was at the dock right behind the bar, but there were no windows or doors that faced that area. He couldn't have seen it, that was for sure, and if none of the other bar patrons had reacted, the crash couldn't have been that strong.
Her confusion in creased. "Wait, mage? I'm no mage," She said, walking over to the waters edge next to him. "I just fiddle. I mean mage's know magic don't they?" She asked. She had never considered what she did magic. It was just a natural ability for her. Jo had been doing stuff like this since she was tiny. Her mothers constantly replaced fish pond was a reminder to that one.
Everything about her froze though when she saw the entire rive rise out of it's banks. The fish still swam, one occasionally bumping into the side, and in it's confusion of not seeing dirt swimming back off. The boats rocked precariously as if they were going to slip right through and crash to the muddy swam below. "I could do...that?" she said, in complete awe as it was lowered down again. She had NEVER thought she'd be strong. Never in a thousand dreams had she thought she'd be able to do something like that. She knew there was no way this type of strength had come from her mother. "Jeez just who was dad then..." She muttered under her breath.

"Magical abilities dont matter from the mother or the father." he said "Anyone with the will to learn can become a great mage...but as you said, you've been doing it since you were just a little child, there for, you have a natural talent, you are special." he said. "Magic is a gift everyone has, but to some people, that gift is greater, and to some less." He said "Its not something that can be carried onto other generations by simple reproduction, its something fate decides for you."
He said "And yes, you could do that, and much more, you seem to have a paticular afinity with water, and becouse of that, you could move whole oceans and seas." he said, then turned to her, looking at her "What Im offering is to teach you how to control you're gift. What you use it for is none of my business, you can use it to spill water on peoples heads all you're life, I care not" he said "All Im asking, is are you willing to learn." he said
