The forest was quiet. It was the dead of night, save for the sound of a single young child panting and running through the forest, running with tears in her eyes, coming from the Catlian tribes. A strange race of people, a mix of various types of felines and humans. A race probably older, and definitely much more ferocious then their human cousins. Their tribes took to dominating the human's lands and competing with the demons, who until recently had ruled every inch of land. But the Catlians were very strict, firm fighters, and every once in a while a hairless child, an almost human looking child, was born, but humans were weak. They were spineless little creatures, and it was a shame to have one of your own resemble them, so not long after the birth of these children, they were run out of the land. Young Koi, now fleeing from her tribe, was one of these.
She sobbed without reguard that another tribe might be out hunting and hear her as she cried and rushed through the forest, running until it was too dark to see and she tripped, tumbling to the ground, and when she composed herself, she looked up and saw she was at the feet of a strange man. Immediately she freaked out, she stared up at him wide eyed and let out a very unconvincing hiss, scooting back.

The man just looked down at the girl when she fell infront of him "Hm...?" He didn't react to her attempt at a hiss at all, he just continued to look at her. He noticed the ears and the tail "Ah...I guess the tribe has kicked out yet another one of their own." He said, squatting down, looking at the cat. He had no intention of attacking, or hurting the girl. He had never had the 'pleasure' of speaking t one of her kind before, so this was a new opertunity "Can you speak?" he asked, wondering if this girl even knew the language.

The child suddenly burst forward with a ramble of words in a harsh tongue, one that was almost unpleasent to the ears of the listener. She knew not what he said, but seemed to speak quite well in her own language, though his was foreign to her, and from the sound of it she didn't like being that close to a demon, they were known to pick off Catlians she'd seen it herself, though she had of course never been warned. After all if she had been picked off it would've done the tribe a favor, instead of having to chase her out themselves.

"Shhh..." The man shushed her gently, putting a finger to her little lips. He shook his head, and removed his hand. He raised up both his hands, showing her he was unarmed "Calm down. I do not intend to harm you" he said, speaking her language fluently.

She immediately shut up when suddenly the stranger spoke her language. She stared at him with big, confused eyes, almost unsure of how to react to that. She was silent for a moment, examining him. He held up his hands, showing he hand no knife, at least it seemed. She suddenly went into a flurry of patting his person, checking for a blade, but when she found none she sat back on her heels and looked at him again. "Who are you?" she asked.

"Wha? Uhm. Excuse me?" he asked when she started patting him down. Half way through he figured she was searching for weapons...lucky for him that he decided to leave his Sword at his 'home' today. When she was done and asked her question he smiled pleasantly at her "My Names Vincent Caine. I'm a vampire that used to live in Ashenvale" He said

She looked at him. She'd never heard of a place called Ashenvale. "Where's that?" She asked. "And why used to?" She seemed more eager to pull information from the stranger named vincent then to hand out any information of her own reguarding even so much as her name. But with her being a little blue haired child, and coming from the Catlian Tribe, it wouldn't be hard to guess she were named after something blue.

"Far, far away from here. Its a city, I'm sure your parents told you about it at least once" He said, and then smiled "And, well, I made myself a new home. A place for myself where no one can bother me." he said, and then thought for a moment "Your names....Koi. Correct?" he asked, making just a random guess. The girl had blue hair, which was her most noticable feature, so he guessed she would have been named by something that looks blue. So it was ether water or sky in her language.

She immediately went stiff. "How do you know my name?" She asked. The girl couldn't have been more then ten years old, so it was fairly easy to tell she hadn't been exposed to much outside her tribe, especially being as 'different' as she was. She didn't think it was strange to be called water, and she didn't think that maybe there were connections between her appearance and her name. She skittered back a little, standing in a way as if she were about to bolt in the other direction.

"Just a guess. Your hair is blue, so I figured you'd be named after something blue. It was ether water or sky, and I picked water." He said, smiling "Don't worry, I've never seen you before in my life...its rare to see one such as yourself" He said "But tell me, why are you out here, all alone?" He asked

She stared at him for a moment before relax, a primal instinct. "I'm ugly, so I had to leave my home. My mother and Father said I had to run away or they would kill me," She said. It was a brutal truth, but many times parents would kill their own children if they were hairless. She stared at the ground again with the whole reason she was in the forest came back into her mind. "Everyone in the tribe started throwing stones at me and chasing me. I had to run," She said.

"Ah...yes. I've heard about that...quite an odd tradition truthfully...there have been a lot more of you 'hairless' kind popping up..." He said, he knew that in a few thousand years there would be no more 'real' cat people, the only things that would be left are the ears and tail, and even that over time would dissapear. He smiled though "You're not ugly though, you're a cute child"

"I look like a human, and humans are weak, that makes me ugly," She repeated again, staring at her bare feet and crossing her arms over her chest. Her ears twitched and the colorful jade and stone beads that were braided into her hair jingled against each other as her hair fell over her should. She felt a slight pain in her stomach. "I need to go find something to eat..." She muttered, and started to walk past the stranger, after all she expected no kindness from him either.

Vincent just chuckles "Humans are weak..." He repeated 'But they are quite the thinkers...' he thought to himself, and then looked at her when she walked past him "Oh? You're hungry?" He asked, and then reached into his robes "Here." He said, and waited for her to turn around. He threw her large, red apple. "Its not much, but out here in the forest, fruit is the best thing you can get" He said

When she turned around she got nailed in the head with the apple. "oooow..." She muttered rubbing her forehead and groaning a bit, but then she blinked and noticed what hit her and pounced at it, immediately devouring the apple as quickly as she could with no consideration for the fact she just about choked on it, and ended up coughing quite a bit before she managed to finish it.
